On Monday, the Flyers announced they have called-up goalie prospect, Carter Hart from the Lehigh Vally Phantoms to the main roster to be part of the goalie rotation. Carter Hart was drafted in 2016 in the second round (48th overall) and was pretty good in training camp but didn't make the final roster to start the season. Hart will likely be making his debut on tonight against the Detroit Redwings. If Hart does indeed start tonight it will be the Flyers sixth different goalie they have started before the New Year. The Flyers sent back, Alex Lyon to the Phantoms.

Two weeks ago, the Flyers hired Chuck Fletcher as the new General Manager and he said he would give Dave Hakstol a chance and wouldn't be making a coaching change anytime soon. Well here we are exactly two weeks later and the Flyers have made coaching change by firing Dave Hakstol after three and half seasons as head coach. They have named Lehigh Valley Phantoms head coach, Scott Gordon the interim head coach until most likely the end of the season at least that's what Fletcher said in the press conference that he expects Gordon to be the head coach the rest of the season. Who knows if that will stay true remember he also said that he wouldn't make a coaching change and that didn't last more than two weeks.
Scott Gordon first game as coach will be on Tuesday night at home against the Detroit Redwings after a five game road trip in which they got one point in five games. They got that one point in an overtime loss to the Calgary Flames after having a two goal lead with over a minute left in the game. Also, on the road trip they suffered their worst lost of the season losing 7-1 to the Winnipeg Jets. They ended the trip scoring only two goals losing to the Edmonton Oilers (4-1) and Vancouver Canucks (5-1).
