On Tuesday afternoon, was the NFL's trade deadline and the Philadelphia Eagles made a big trade acquiring Wide Receiver, Golden Tate from the Detroit Lions for a 2019 Third round pick. Since 2012, Tate hasn't missed a single game, he's sixth in receptions and seventh in receiving yards. His stats so far this season are: 44 recs/517 yards/3 TDs.
I believe this was an very good trade for the Eagles as it gives them another weapon for Carson Wentz. I like this trade very much, however they still needed a running back and a cornerback and didn't get one which is disappointing. Golden Tate, wouldn't have been my first choice wide receiver to trade for, I personally wanted Demaryius Thomas (got traded to the Houston Texans) from the Denver Broncos but I happy about this trade. It will be interesting to see how Doug Pederson uses him uses him since we have Nelson Agholor and Jordan Matthews play in the slot too. I think maybe he could be used on special teams as a punt returner since Darren Sproles is injured right now.
Tate is a free agent at the end of the season, so hopefully he makes good enough of an impact that the Eagles decide to being him back possibly on a two-year deal or so. We shall wait and to see how this all plays out. The Eagles, will be on a bye week this week after their win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in London. So Golden Tate will have enough time to learn the play-book and should be ready to play in the Sunday Night Showdown against the hated Dallas Cowboys at home.
