The defending Super-Bowl champions, the Philadelphia Eagles season comes to an end in the "Big Easy" as they lose to the New Orleans Saints, 20-14 in the NFC Divisional round. The Eagles came into the game as 8-point underdogs so nobody was really given them a chance especially after losing 48-7 to the Saints in week 11.
The Eagles came out in the first quarter and dominated as got off to a 14-0 lead. The first play from scrimmage the Eagles picked off a Drew Brees pass and on their first drive scored a touchdown. On their second drive, they scored another touchdown to go up 14-0 and it looked like the Eagles could actually come away with the victory as they were in control of the game even though it was only the first quarter. However, the game completely changed when Nick Foles threw an interception with 29 seconds left in the first quarter. The interception gave new life to the Saints as they drove down field and cut the lead in half at 14-7. The Saints, got a field goal before half to cut the lead to four as the Eagles lead 14-10 at halftime.
In the second half, there wasn't much offense as the Saints took the lead early in the third as Drew Brees found Michael Thomas in the endzone for a two-yard touchdown pass and the Saints lead 17-14. The Eagles had a chance with about two-minutes left as Nick Foles threw an interception that slipped the hands of Alshon Jeffery and right into the hands of Saints' Cornerback, Marshon Lattimore to seal the game. It was Foles' second interception of the game and his very last pass as a Philadelphia Eagle. The Saints will host the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship game this coming Sunday, January 20, 2019.
Even though they loss the Eagles gave it their all the last month and got in the playoffs when nobody thought it was possible. It was a fantastic and very enjoyable last month of football just wish the Eagles had played like that the entire season and maybe just maybe, they would be hosting or playing in the NFC title game on Sunday. We will be back next year better than this season for sure and more motivated to win the Super-Bowl again especially, Carson Wentz.
On behalf Eagles Nation, Thank You Eagles and Thank You St. Nick for another run. Good Luck Nick Foles where ever you go next season or if you decided to retire!
