After the blockbuster trade early on Wednesday morning, the 76ers' GM, Elton Brand was not quite done yet as he made some more moves to improve the team. The first move was acquiring guard, Malachi Richardson, 2022 second-round pick and draft rights to Emir Preldzic for cash considerations on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday, Brand traded for forward, James Ennis from the Houston Rockets for rights to 2021 second-round pick swap. The Final trade was trading former first overall pick in 2017, Markelle Fultz, to the Orlando Magic for forward, Jonathon Simmons, 2019 first-round pick (protected) and 2019 second-round pick.
Elton Brand did a great job before the deadline, he got rid of a player in Markelle Fultz that clearly wasn't gonna work here and who needed a fresh start. Brand was able to get a player and a first-round pick and second-round pick this year for Fultz which is amazing. I also like the trades in which he got two solid veteran bench players in James Ennis and Jonathon Simmons. Both will be solid coming off the bench when needed. The Richardson pick up is nothing special, he's probably gonna a player that doesn't get much time and will likely be in the G-league the rest of the season.
Overall, Elton Brand did a great job, he improved the team and we are now legitimate contenders in the eastern conference. I truly believe, this team right now can come out of the east and go to the NBA finals. We shall see what happens the rest of the season and see if we can get one of the top two seeds. I think we can win the Atlantic division and overtake the Toronto Raptors for the division and possibly even past the Milwaukee Bucks for the number one seed. It's gonna be a fun rest of the season in South Philly that's for sure. Get Ready 76ers fans!
