The second round of the 2019 NHL playoffs start tonight as the Boston Bruins face the Columbus Blue Jackets who swept the odds on favorite to win the cup and this season's Presidents trophy winner, the Tampa Bay Lightning (128 Points; 62 wins most in the NHL in four games. The St. Louis Blue and Dallas Stars play each other tonight as well in game one. The Stars beat the Nashville Predators in six games and the Blues the Winnipeg Jets in six games as well.
Tomorrow night, the Carolina Hurricanes beat the defending Cup champions the Washington Capitals in seven games after being down 3-2 in the series; they won game six at home and game seven in DC. The New York Islanders swept the Pittsburgh Penguins in four games. The Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks will do battle too. The Sharks defeated the Vegas Golden Knights in seven games after being down 3-1 in the series and down 3-0 in game seven to win 4-3 in overtime.
This was one of the best and insane first rounds ever, all four wild card teams ("7th and 8th seed") won their series. The best team from each conference the Tampa Bay Lightning and Calgary Flames combined for one win by the Flames. Looking forward to the rest of these playoffs, any team can win it at this point.

The 2018 NHL Conference Finals begin tonight at 8pm ET with the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Washington Capitals. The Western Conference finals, start tomorrow night as the Vegas Golden Knights taken on the Winnipeg Jets. This is the first Conference finals for both the Knights and Jets. Both series should be very good especially the western finals.
