Typically, when the World Series rolls around at the end of October, it brings about plenty of excitement and that was certainly the case for both the Houston Astros and especially for the Washington Nationals, who haven't played a World Series game in the nation's capital, since 1933. While you would think the three games in Washington DC were all fun and games celebrating our American freedom and the past traditions of our country, that certainly wasn't the case for the Washington Nationals lineup. It's officially almost here, the Fall Classic aka The World Series, the time of year that every baseball fan awaits all season long and lives for on every level of the planet. This year's World Series can be described in a variety of different words such as: "epic", "historical", extravagant", and "pure domination" and is bound to be a good one as the Houston Astros square off against the Washington Nationals. Prior to Game Five of the American League Championship Series tonight between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees, many people expected the series to conclude, but thanks to some hard fought effort by the Yankees and some tough luck for the Astros, the series is now headed back to Houston for Game Six and a potential Game Seven. Pitching has been a common storyline this postseason whether it be Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg of the Washington Nationals, Jack Flaherty of the St. Louis Cardinals, Masahiro Tanaka of the New York Yankees, or Justin Verlander and another special starting pitcher, Gerrit Cole, of the Houston Astros. Starting Saturday night, the Houston Astros will square off against the New York Yankees in Houston for Game One of the American League Championship Series. This is a series that many baseball fans have been looking forward to ever since the start of June and were hoping would happen based on how exciting it was during the 2017 MLB Postseason when the Houston Astros ended up being crowned World Series Champions. |
